1. About this project

Mortcage (mortcage.nz) is a hobby project built and maintained by an individual developer, inspired and assisted by AI tools. It is provided free of charge for educational and informational purposes only. This is not a commercial service and is not affiliated with any bank, financial institution, or advisory firm.

2. What information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information — your name and email address, provided via Google Sign-In.
  • Portfolio data — property details, loan figures, and scenarios you choose to enter.
  • Usage data — basic server logs (page requests, errors) retained for up to 30 days.

We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or any sensitive financial credentials.

3. How we use your information

  • To display your portfolio data back to you when you log in.
  • To identify your account and keep your data separate from other users.
  • To improve the tool based on general usage patterns (not individual tracking).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a managed Postgres database platform). Data may be hosted in data centres outside New Zealand. Supabase applies industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.

5. Third-party services

Mortcage uses the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth — for sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — for database and authentication infrastructure.
  • Vercel — for web hosting and edge delivery.

6. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.

To exercise any of these rights, or if you have a privacy concern, please contact us via the GitHub repository linked in the footer.

7. Cookies

Mortcage uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

8. Changes to this policy

As a hobby project, this policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
